Cheese toastie

In the hospitality class, we have learned to make a cheese toast. The ingredients that you will need for this will be down below next to a picture of how it should look like.

In your toast, you can add whatever you would like. I have chosen to stick with simple ingredients like spaghetti and cheese. However, if you like ham, sweetcorn, etc you can put that in.

Grab a board to place your bread on you can use white or wholemeal bread. Make sure your bread is not stale and it's nice and soft. This is because it might make the texture too hard when ready. As you can see below I have put two of my ingredients in small bowls and have buttered my bread. You should butter one side of the bread for all 4. This is so the outside of the bread gives you a nice golden color and not leave you with a burnt toast.

Therefore you need to put your ingredients on the non-buttered side. Just like you can see in this photo. A good tip is to have just enough to cover the bread so when you bite into your toast there is no big splash or a mess.

Then place the bread on top with the buttered side ready to place in the toast grill.

Once you have done this place your sandwich in the toast grill.

Leave in grill till golden brown which is about 15 minutes. Do not open and shut the grill regularly or the toast will take longer to grill.

when ready serve on plate and enjoy.

Steak sandwich

In class, I have been learning about how to make hot and cold sandwiches. In the picture below you can see the sandwichs that I have made. The ingredients that I have used in this sandwich are bread rolls, steak, carrots, tomatoes, onions, capsicum, lettuce, and cheese. For the lettuce and cheese, you would only need half a cup. Vegetables should be thinly sliced so that they will be able to fit in the bread roll. It is also useful to have thinly sliced vegetables so you can taste everything in the sandwich. So one ingredient is not overpowering. Once I have cut my vegetables I must cook the meat. The meat is steak the texture should be firm. I first weigh out 50 grams of steak and cut diagonal strips of meat. The meat should be no thicker than cm. Then I cooked my meat on a grilled plate. Meat should be cooked until brown should take no longer than 2 minutes on each side. As I cook my meat on the other side of the grill plate I will have my red onion and capsicum. Once all meat, onions, and capsicum are cooked put them aside in a bowl ready for assembling. To make sure your meat is good check if it has a funny smell. Your meat should not have a funny smell but more a fresh smell. All vegetables should be given a light rinse. Before cutting your carrot you must grate it. Cut one slice on the side so it should be flat on the board. This gives you more control of the carrot and less chance of you cutting your fingers. Then continuing cutting slices until there is enough to cut in thin slices. You should cut thin slices for your tomatoes and capsicum. For your capsicum you need to remove the seeds and make sure none are in your sandwich because they are poisonous. Vegetables should not be brown or squishy if it is your sandwich and will give it a funny taste. Bread rolls should be soft and have no molds.

Table setup

When assembling the sandwich you must first cut the bread roll in two so you have the bottom and top. Place ingredients on the bottom bread so it will be easier to present. You should add your cooked ingredients first. Meat should be evenly layered on the bottom. If you would like a sauce on your sandwich that would be added first.  You then would add your red onion and capsicum after. Then finish it off with your lettuce and carrots. Some people may not like cheese in their sandwich so it is an option if you want cheese or not. Finally, place the other half of bread on top and get eating.
