Language features-English

Today i have been learning about the word antithesis. In my own words I think the word antithesis means the opposite of something or someone.

Antithesis is the term used to refer to a person's use of two opposite terms in a sentence to show affect.
Antithesis can be used to add affect or strengthen your point.

Here are three examples of Antithesis:

  • Speech is silver, but silence is gold.
  • Patience is bitter, but it has a sweet fruit.
  • Money is the root of all evil: poverty is the fruit of all goodness.

Silent reading

Today in English class I read 41 pages of a comic book named The Daltons' Stash.
This book tells me about 4 brothers who are arrested and plan to escape. Trouble is no one escapes out of warden's jail. But the Daltons' aren't your average prisoners.

This book is written by Morris a Belgian cartoonist. Born on the 1st of December 1923 and passed on the 16th of July 2001.  Morris has written over 50 books and 6 movies.

I now know that the town the 4 brothers are currently in has a judge that refuses to put anyone in penitentiary. So the Daltons' are breaking everything just to get into the penitentiary where the Red rock (holds a sum of money) stands. Even if takes a train crash. Yes, the Daltons' are willing to do anything just to get that money.
